In accordance with the Greater Indianapolis Flute Club, I have some VERY exciting news to share–William Bennett is coming to Indianapolis for Indy Flute Day on March 4, 2017!! This is sure to be an incredibly exciting opportunity for flutists all around the Midwest, so be sure to mark your calendars now.
Bennett studied in London under powerhouses such as Geoffrey Gilbert, Jean-Pierre Rampal, and Marcel Moyse. In addition to recording the standard flute repertoire of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart, etc., he has made pioneer recordings of many neglected 19th century works, such as music by Ries, Romberg, and Taffanel. He has recorded with artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Wynton Marsalis. He has made over 100 CD’s as a soloist, and he has been principal flute in many orchestras including the London Symphony, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and the English Chamber Orchestra. He has been Professor of Flute in the Freiburg Hochschule of Music in Germany, and he teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He teaches Masterclasses all over the world.
William Bennett is a VERY in-demand artist, as you can see, so we are so excited at the IFS to be collaborating on this exciting event! More to come soon!
congratulations on William Bennett—any details about masterclass participation. Will there be a competition for performers? Thanks Joyce
Hi Joyce! I haven’t heard any word yet, but I am going to be on the planning committee for the event, so I will find out! I sure hope so!
