Hello all! We have a VERY busy next two weeks coming up here at the IFS…so here is what you need to know!
First up, on Saturday, March 7th, the Greater Indianapolis Flute Club is hosting the 2015 Flute Fest at Butler University. If you haven’t heard already, this is going to be a HUGE event this year: Jasmine Choi is the featured artist! This event is sponsored by Butler University’s Schrott Center for the Arts, Straubinger Flutes, and the Indy Flute Shop. The day will be jam-packed with masterclasses, panel discussions, and will come to a grand finale with a recital by Choi at 7pm. All events are held in the Schrott Center; see a schedule of the day’s events, register, and purchase tickets at http://indyflutefest.weebly.com/
Why should you attend Flute Fest 2015? Well, first of all, Jasmine Choi is simply one of the most well-known and celebrated flutists out there right now. She studied with Julius Baker, has recorded four solo CDs, and served as principal flutist of the Vienna Symphony before taking time off to focus on her solo career. Her recital is sure to be fantastic, and students will also have the opportunity to see her work and personality first-hand at the afternoon masterclass, featuring students from Butler University and elsewhere.
As if that wasn’t enough–Mimi Stillman will be giving another free clinic at Paige’s Music on Tuesday, March 10th! Mimi is a veteran performer, clinician, and visitor to the Indy Flute Shop, and she is truly a joy to watch and experience. The clinic will be held at 6:30pm in the main Paige’s Music showroom. As always, attendance is FREE, and there is no sign-up process. Please bring your flute–or any other instrument–for a highly interactive clinic!
Why should you attend the Mimi Stillman clinic? Easy–it’s FREE, it’s convenient, and she’s amazing!
Hope to see you all at both these events! Call Erin with any questions!
