There is so much that goes on behind the scenes here at the Indy Flute Shop and Paige’s Music, so I wanted to take some time to highlight some of our hardest-working, least-seen associates: our repair technicians. For those of you who may not know, Paige’s Music has a full-service repair shop, servicing everything from piccolos to string basses, and everything in between! Our technicians are trained in a specialty, grouped mainly into woodwinds, brass, and string instruments, so you can rest assured that your flute (or any other instrument you may bring in) will be handled by a trained professional from start to finish.
And now…introducing Steve Ruppert! Steve has been with Paige’s Music since 2003, but his history in the music business goes back much farther. Steve, who hails from Lafayette, owned and managed Weast Music for 25 years before it was acquired by Paige’s Music in 2003, handling everything from sales to repairs and everything in between. In fact, Steve actually sold Erin her very first flute!! Steve took a repair position after the acquisition and has never looked back! Steve is primarily a percussionist, but he is trained on all instrument repairs, having studied at Allied Band Instrument Repair School and specializing in woodwind instruments.
For most of the year, Steve is a behind-the-scenes repair warrior, but he also may be a familiar face for those of you who attend ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble contest–for the past 30 years, he has offered his services as an emergency repair technician at the state finals site. Many people remember him as “the Paige’s guy,” and his friendly face is always willing to take on the biggest of last minute repair emergencies to help students succeed. Steve is truly a huge asset to the repair department here at Paige’s Music, and the Indy Flute Shop is lucky to have his expertise! Cheers, Mr. Ruppert, and here’s to many more!
